How Do I Help People?

I am a physical therapist, personal trainer, and Pilates instructor who integrates all three disciplines to help people fix their pain.

In our first session you will learn why you have pain and begin a program to correct your issues. This will involve teaching you how to use your body to help it repair itself.

Rcik Olderman

Rick Olderman MSPT is a sports and orthopedic physical therapist, author, speaker, personal trainer, Pilates instructor, and certified Hanna Somatics and Emotion Code practitioner living in Denver, Colorado.

With more than 19 years of experience, Rick specializes in treating chronic pain or nagging injuries and derives great satisfaction from helping others reach their full potential.

In his books and clinic, Rick demonstrates the connections between the brain, emotional states, biomechanics, and pain that have healed and invigorated thousands of his clients and readers across the globe. Understanding these connections helps his patients understand such vexing questions as, Why does dysfunction in one area of the body result in pain in a completely different area? How do stress and emotional issues increase pain? Why certain problems return again and again perhaps even many years later?

Rick’s clinic is in Denver, CO and can be reached at www.PhysicalTherapyDenver.com or 303.477.5303.

His books can be found at www.FixingYouBooks.com. All exercises and tests found in Rick’s books can be accessed for FREE on the Fixing You website by entering the code found in the back of each book. They are:

My Approach

When visiting my clinic, you’ll find we are casual yet focused. We want you to feel relaxed and confident that I or my therapists will get to the root of your problem. Your appointment time is spent one-on-one with your therapist for the entire appointment. We do not use assistants or aides to carry out treatments as this is where the real learning takes place. We believe your therapist should have their eyes and brain focussed on you and you only. To this end, your therapist will not be seeing 2 or 3 patients at once as is the case with most other clinics. We will work together to fix your pain and you will leave feeling like you finally have the answers to your problems.

Much of my approach to helping people with chronic pain comes from the physical therapy research staff at Washington University. Dr. Shirley Sahrmann and her colleagues have been conducting research in human movement and pain for years. Her first textbook came out in 2002 and she now has a second that was recently published. The information in her texts is quite dense and difficult to comprehend for most. That is why I’ve written my Fixing You series–to translate this and other cutting-edge research into information anyone can use.

Over the years I have also become certified in Hanna Somatics. This unique and gentle approach reduces pain and tension by incorporating neuromuscular control from its source–the brain. Hanna Somatics, combined with Dr. Sahrmann’s research, has been a very powerful combination in fixing chronic or nagging pain.

I also use my blog to think out loud about things I’m learning from my patients. This is a great way to get to know me and see how I help people. My other goal with my blog is to help people understand they are not alone. That people with similar issues are being helped.
